I'm new to everything here (mixcraft, drumming, alesis..)Alesis v49 midiAlesis V49 Vst Download
I'm running Mixcraft 5 and I've plugged my Alesis DM6 drum kit midi/usb into my laptop; MC recognized the new midi interface so I selected it as a virtual track input. When I struck a pad I got a keyboard sound so I clicked 'change instrument'. I can see my kit under External MIDI Devices as 'e-drum' but I don't have a vst for it so I selected Category:Drums, Instrument Preset: KIT - Power Kit (has this issue with all MC5 Drum models). Now I can hear my drums through MC but I'd estimate about 20% of the notes are dropped, some of the mapping is incorrect and the velocity sensitivity of the pads is wrong as I really have to hit the pad much harder to register a hit than I do when listening to the direct headphone output of my DM6 controller.Alesis V49 Vst Download
I've also downloaded the addictive drummer demo, I can see and select the vst from Category: VSTi Instruments. Once I edit the Map preset in the Addictive drummer edit window to Alesis DM10 the velocity and mappings seem spot on with the exception that I'm using a demo version so the Toms don't sound although I can see the notes registering correctly.
Like I said, I'm brand new to all of this so I'm looking for any advice on where to start. I'd like to use my kit as a midi input using one of the vst's for sound modulation as the available kits on my DM6 don't sound as good as the power kit in MC5 and I'd lke to record my drums as midi rather than just an analog in (although analog in is working just fin with my M-Audio Fast Track Pro).

Any ideas why so many note are dropped and why sensitivity seems 'incorrect' when using the mixcraft5 Drum vst? Or any recommendations on a good free or the best priced quality drum plug-in?
